hannahs favorite chapter
The reading for today had a lot of content, but there was key parts that made the reading stand out. My favorite chapter was chapter eight, this chapter showed the joy and happiness of Tom returning home, and went into great details about how his family behaved and what they were like. I really liked how they described toms grandma as being mean and rough. My favorite passage was one describing one of grandmas stories. " once after a meeting, while she was still speaking in tongues she fired both barrels of a shot gun at her husband and after that he admired her and did not try to torture her as children torture bugs."

Sometimes in life you have to crush someone's overconfidence to get them to see you as an equal.
ReplyDeleteI, too, chose this chapter as my favorite chapter. I liked how the family was happy to see Tom come home even after he just got out of jail. I feel even if Tom busted out the family would protect him and hide him from the law if they needed to. They are willing to take him to California even thought it is against his parole so I think they would not have thought twice about hiding him if he did escape from jail.
ReplyDeleteI agree i liked this chapter a lot because for so long they talk about the family but you never get a really good picture of them all together. This chapter seemed like they were at their happiest with Tom home.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your quote there! Very humorous. Part of me would love to see that in real life but another part of me would be embarrassed to have such a member of my family firing a shot gun in a playful manor. I too enjoyed chapter 8 a lot, I found a lot of themes in there. Thank you for the post!
ReplyDeleteI also liked that passage. It shows how Granma is a tough old lady and she won't take crap from anyone.
