  1. I really liked your presentation and how you related the events that the KKK were doing to the bible verses. I found it to be very educational!

  2. The fact that the KKK started with 8 million members is insane! I like how you brought bible verses into the essay i would like to see a little more of where there at today with their organization.

  3. I think this presentation was very informational and had many interesting facts and current beliefs. This presentation in my opinion lacked the perception of the people during the Great Depression. There has got to be a reason why people seem to have increased prejudice during tough times. Personally I see it as an escape goat just like when Hitler blamed the Jewish community for the problems in Germany. This topic also presents the danger of rhetoric. People are able to persuade other people to the extent that it gives them justification to kill others. So in my opinion more could have been said about the significance of and what the KKK provided for the people during that time period. Other than this I thought it was a very informative presentation.

  4. I see what you mean Zach, and I would agree with you in saying that the KKK provided an escape goat for people to take out their frustrations, feel a part of something to solve their problems, etc.

I thought you two ladies did a great job! A topic such as the KKK is hard to get our minds around. Like Mr. Lohre said today, its a very dark dark part of our past that we would just love to forget. But, we must not forget! That would be a tragedy if we let this slide and didn't learn from it. I loved the connection to the Bible! Great scriptures, you can see where there coming from. But, I would say that by their actions they weren't true christians at all. If they truly knew there Bibles, and who their Messiah was such things would never have happened. Now, I can see someone telling me that hey a lot of Christians owned slaves at this time, and it was widely accepted. Sure, but that doesn't make it right. And I pray that if I was alive then that I would see the hypocrisy in it and call it for what it was. Also, this goes to show that Christians at this time weren't really digging into the Word of God and studying it. It baffles me that such atrocities could exist and originate from people who believe in Christ. And I not only do I support you totally Kayleigh about how the Bible discusses the difference between biblical slavery (indentured servants) and Southern slavery. Great job!

  5. It is perplexing to me how a person or group can take something sacred like the bible (or other religious texts) and translate it into justifiable means for inhumane acts. Extremists can be found on almost every avenue of life. Unfortunately when you have religious extremists there almost inevitably is violence. Overall, you two did a nice job while dealing with a difficult, emotional topic.

  6. I found it amazing that people with so much authority and power, such as the Presidents of the United States, were a part of the KKK. I never would have thought such people were a part of this group. I also cannot believe that they justified their doings by passages in the Bible. Very nice job.

  7. It surprised me the number of polititians that were in the KKK, especially the presidents Hardin and Truman. You could improve on having your passages marked out, or even type them into the powerpoint. Other than that I thought you did a very good job.

  8. I found this presentation to be very informational! Hard to believe that 8 million people were involved in the KKK between 1915 and 1927. It's sad to think leaders that we really looked up to in our country were involved with such a disturbing "organization." My favorite was when you guys incorporated Bible versus into the power point. I couldn't agree more! Great job.

  9. The information within your presentation was great, the million people that was involved with the KKK still to me blows my mind that, that many people can be within a group like that. great job on the presentation.

  10. This is very ugly part of our past as Americans and sometimes hard for us to address. You guys gave us some insight on what they may think that supports their beliefs.
